New accounts start with 3 free credits, no purchase required. Beyond that, pricing is based on your documents' total content rather than how many files you upload — small documents are grouped together in batches of up to three and priced as one, so splitting a document into several smaller files (or combining several into one) won't change the cost. Larger documents (over 5,000 words, or over 10 pages) are always priced individually. Either way, the underlying rate works out to 1 credit per 10,000 words in a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, or 1 credit per 50 pages in a PDF, HTML, or image file. You'll always see the exact cost, broken down by document, before confirming a comparison.
